You might be here because…

Choose whichever feels closest.

If you can’t put a name to it yet, that’s fine. Most people can’t, and we can work it out together.

You don’t have to wait until you can’t cope.

A lot of people wait. They tell themselves others have it worse, or that they should be over it by now. Some feel guilty taking time for themselves when someone else is the one who’s ill. If something has been weighing on you, that’s reason enough to talk about it.

How it works

If you’ve never done this before

  1. Hands holding a phone on a sofa.

    A free 15-minute call

We’ll have a short call on the phone. You can tell me as much or as little as you like, ask anything, and get a feel for whether I’m someone you could talk to.

  2. Two armchairs facing each other with cups on a small table.

    Your first session

A chance for us to meet and begin exploring what has brought you to counselling. You might know what you want to talk about, or be unsure where to start. Either is welcome.

  3. A glass of water and a cup on a side table.

    Meeting regularly

We meet at a regular time, in person or by video. Session by session, we explore what matters to you and keep checking in on how things feel.

Why talk to a counsellor?

Sometimes it helps to talk to someone outside your everyday life, with time set aside just for you. Counselling offers space to share what’s on your mind, feel heard and explore thoughts or feelings that may be difficult to put into words.

You don’t need to be in crisis or have everything worked out. You might want to understand yourself better, make sense of something difficult or simply stop carrying it all alone. I’ll listen with care and without judgement, helping you find your own understanding and a way forward that feels right for you. I won’t tell you what to do, and I will be honest about what I see.

About me

Hello, I’m Mark.

Supporting people has been a consistent thread throughout my working life. I’ve worked in social care and carer support and run several businesses, all focused on supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our society. Those experiences have shaped the patience, care and respect I bring to my counselling work.

I’ve trained in both psychodynamic and person-centred counselling, drawing on both to offer a blended approach. This allows us to explore how earlier experiences may shape how you feel today, while keeping your perspective, your pace and the relationship we build at the heart of our work together.

A quiet room at a regular time we agree.

  • Online, by video

From somewhere private, if that’s easier.

Questions people often ask

  • Whatever is on your mind. Some people come with something specific, others just know things don’t feel right. I won’t set an agenda. I’ll listen, ask questions when they help, and we’ll look at what’s happening now and, when it’s useful, what sits underneath.

  • That’s completely normal. Together we can work to create a natural, unhurried space for you to explore your feelings and emotions.

  • We would normally keep to the same format, whether that’s in person or online. A familiar space and a consistent routine can help you feel settled and comfortable, making each session a dedicated time for you.

Of course, life doesn’t always go to plan. If something unexpected comes up, please let me know and I’ll always do my best to be flexible.

  • I’m trained in person-centred and psychodynamic counselling. Person-centred means I don’t set the agenda or tell you what to do. Psychodynamic means we can look at how earlier experiences shape how you feel now, if that helps. I draw on both.

  • There isn’t a set number of sessions that’s right for everyone. Some people find a shorter period of counselling helpful, while others value having more time to explore their feelings and experiences.

We’ll talk about what you’re hoping for and review how things are feeling as we go, deciding together whether continuing feels useful. You don’t need to have this worked out before you get in touch.
